chicken run

Moving to Terrara we weren’t sure if chickens would be part of our vision. We both had some experience with them but it didn’t take long for us to realise that their presence was missing.

The chicken run was built in the Summer of 2022-23 and provides a sheltered space for our flock of heritage breed chickens to roam, enjoy a dust bath and keep cosy and warm in their coop during the gruelling winters.

The run opens into the orchard and on sunny days the flock loves to scratch around under the fruit trees finding grubs and all sorts of goodness to enrich their eggs.

The potager is a no-go-zone but its enticements often prove difficult to ignore.
